NAVI MUMBAI: At least six people died and ten others were injured in two separate incidents of major fire breakouts at residential buildings in Vashi and Kamothe.Purushottam Jadhav, divisional fire officer, informed that a major fire broke out in a 10th-floor apartment of Raheja Tower in MG Complex, Sector 14, Vashi, past midnight on Tuesday.The fire spread to two apartments on the upper two floor. Four persons died in the blaze. They include an 84-year-old woman who resides on the 11th floor and a 6-year-old girl and her parents residing on the 12th floor.Jadhav said, "The fire call was recieved at 12.40 am. Fire engines from Vashi, Nerul, Koparkhairane and Airoli rushed to the spot for fire fighting operation. Four persons were found charred at the three apartments.
While 10 residents were rescued and as they had sustained minor burn injuries and complained of feeling suffocated due to fire smoke, they were rushed to different hospitals."While, another major fire broke out in the 3rd floor apartment of Ambe Shraddha CHS in sector 36, Kamothe in which a mother-daughter duo have died due to severe burn injuries.Pravin Bodkhe, Kharghar fire officer informed that, the fire call was received at 6.40 am. The fire was triggered due to LPG cylinder leak due to the cylinder exploded. Two more LPG cylinders were found intact at the apartment. The cylinder blast partially damaged the upper floor apartment.
