'It's Not Just the Performer Who Carries The responsibility'

Popular standup comedian Navin Prabhakar has now reacted to the Rs 370 biryani remark that happened on Pranit More's recent show. For those unaware, a video from Pranit More's recent stand-up show went viral and sparked widespread criticism online.

In the clip, 23-year-old Himanshu Jangra said that he had spent Rs 370 on a plate of chicken biryani during a date and therefore expected a “return” on that expense. His remark drew strong reactions on social media and netizens called out both Pranit and Himanshu. In an exclusive chat, veteran entertainer Navin Prabhakar commented on the controversy and questioned how such content goes viral and becomes a national topic.Navin argues that public debates often center around who said something controversial, but there should also be focus on the people who push and propagate such content. He says "Most of the responsibility lies with the ecosystem that transforms a clip into a viral phenomenon."On the issue, Navin Prabhakar asked "Why is only one figure in the spotlight while the others who participated in this process go un-blamed?"He wondered "Why are these incidents left to be registered "The performer is not the only one who has responsibility".

Prabhakar said of the statement, which started as a word in a limited setting, "It has become a nationwide controversy. Rather, it goes through multiple filters before millions of people see it online.""A comment in a room does not make it a national issue. Someone films it, someone edits it, someone uploads it and someone pushes the videos out. The latter of which"While he did not excuse performers from accountability, Prabhakar emphasized that "Content creators, production teams, social media platforms and digital publishers should also be considered in any discussion of how inflammatory material is allowed to gain attraction."His remarks come amid ongoing discussions surrounding freedom of expression, artistic accountability and online amplification. Prabhakar continued, suggesting that "Focusing on the comedian alone ignores the larger machinery of viral controversy."Stressing the need for a more even minded debate, Prabhakar said, "I had this thought: "Whenever something becomes big in the news, there always seems to be one person at the root of it. But we should also ask: Who benefited by putting that clip so fast"As the Pranit More "370 Ki Biryani" reactions continue, Prabhakar's comment added a new aspect to the issue, shifting attention from "one person" to "the whole chain" and the people who work to make something viral. After the controversy erupted, Pranit issued a public apology and allegedly deactivated his Instagram account. On the other hand, Himanshu also released a public apology video.
