“Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the guidance of Home Minister Amit Shah, Naxalism will be completely eradicated by March next,” Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar said in Khanapur of Belagavi district on Tuesday.

“The COBRA unit of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) has played a commendable role in eliminating Naxalism,” he said.

He was speaking after inaugurating new facilities at the COBRA Jungle Warfare School at Torali forest in Khanapur.

“The areas that were once affected by Naxalism are seeing a remarkable decline in insurgency, and in this, the role of the CRPF’s COBRA unit is highly commendable. Due to the efforts of the COBRA unit and other forces, villages once plagued by Naxals are now witnessing development. The day when Naxalism is completely eradicated is not far and the CRPF will continued to play a pivotal role in that achievement,” he said.

Mr. Kumar described the CRPF as a symbol of impartiality, nationalism, service and commitment. He said that it is impossible to conduct elections anywhere in the country without the services of the CRPF.

“Whenever States need assistance of Central forces, the first preference is always the CRPF. In short, the reason people of the country are able to sleep peacefully is because of the CRPF’s role in keeping peace,” he said.

The Minister then inaugurated a newly constructed training and AV hall building, SOs mess and barracks for 180 jawans at the CRPF’s COBRA School of Jungle Warfare and Tactics (CSJWT).

He said that these new facilities have been constructed at a cost of ₹36 crore. “These buildings with modern infrastructure will provide a new direction to the training system of CSJWT. They are equipped with a modern auditorium, seminar hall, classrooms, audio-visual room, sand model room, IED model room and other training-related infrastructure,” he said.

“The CRPF is the backbone of the country’s internal security. Whether it is extremism, terrorism or natural disasters, our jawans are always prepared. Hence, continuous advanced training, knowledge, facilities and readiness are crucial. The peaceful sleep of our citizens is possible only because of the CRPF’s tireless role. Elections in India are virtually impossible without the CRPF’s involvement. That is why the CRPF is the first choice whenever States request the services of Central forces,” he said.

The Minister said that the Modi government at the Centre is committed to ensuring the welfare of jawans who dedicate their lives and make sacrifices for the nation. He urged everyone to carry the oath of “Nation First” in their hearts while serving the country.
