Shai Gilgeous-Alexander scored 23 points — 13 of them in a dominant third quarter — as the Oklahoma City Thunder held off a late Dallas Mavericks surge to claim a 101-94 road win on Monday, extending their unbeaten start to the NBA season.

The Mavericks, playing their second game in as many nights, were led by Cam Thomas’s 40 points, but struggled to overcome early shooting woes.

Rookie Cooper Flagg, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft, had a rough night, scoring just two points on 1-of-9 shooting after tweaking his left shoulder in the opening minute.

The Thunder, now 4-0, continue to look like one of the league’s most balanced young squads.

Around the League

Lauri Markkanen erupted for 51 points and 14 rebounds in Utah’s 138-134 overtime win over the Suns — the Jazz’s first 50-point game since 1998.

Tyrese Maxey dropped 43 points as the 76ers stayed perfect, beating the Magic 136-124. His 111 points through 3 games are the second-most in 76ers history, trailing only Wilt Chamberlain.

Austin Reaves continued his breakout stretch with 41 points for the Lakers, though they fell 122-108 to Portland.

In Minneapolis, Nikola Jokic tallied his third straight triple-double (25 pts, 19 rebs, 10 asts) to power the Nuggets past the Timberwolves 127-114.

Only three players have opened a season this way… and they are, unsurprisingly, Oscar Robertson, Russell Westbrook and now, Nikola Jokic.
