Officials of the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) have arrested a suspect wanted in a 2010 drug trafficking case.

Ravi alias Kamal Singh, an alleged supplier of drugs from Pratapgarh, Rajasthan, an area known for opium cultivation and heroin diversion, was apprehended by a special team following a tip-off, the NCB said in a press release.

The agency had seized 976 g of heroin at a private bus terminus in Koyambedu, Chennai, in November 2010. Three suspects were arrested, while Ravi remained absconding in the case.

The drug was meant to be smuggled to Sri Lanka. While two of the accused were convicted by a special court in 2013, investigators continued to pursue the case as Ravi remained elusive.

He was produced in a city court and remanded in judicial custody, the release said.
