NDA confident of victory after first phase of polls

Patna: The way people came out of their homes to vote in the first phase of Bihar assembly elections clearly indicated that the NDA was going to win approximately 100 of the 121 seats that went to polls on Thursday, said BJP leader and deputy CM Samrat Choudhary.

“This year’s results will break the record set by the 2010 election,” he said.Choudhary claimed that even the opposition alliance’s CM face (Tejashwi Prasad Yadav) was going to lose. “Just as no member of Lalu Prasad’s family won in the 2010 elections, no one will win this time either,” he said.JD(U) national spokesman Rajiv Ranjan Prasad claimed a landslide victory for the NDA. “The conscious voters of Bihar have endorsed the achievements of the NDA govt under the leadership of CM Nitish Kumar in the areas of development, good governance, empowerment, employment and social harmony,” he said.Union minister Nityanand Rai said a strong wave of support for the NDA was seen in the first phase. “Voters held a mirror to the opposition RJD, which is the patron of hooliganism, jungle raj and corruption,” he said.BJP spokesman and MP Ravi Shankar Prasad said the RJD’s allegations of deliberately slowing down the voting process in the first phase of Bihar elections on Thursday showed their desperation as they surrendered by noon itself.

“There was so much enthusiasm for voting across Bihar. Women were standing in large numbers at th booths. What happened to the RJD? Are they desperate? Have they surrendered at 12 o’clock? The Election Commission has denied the RJD allegations of deliberately slowing down voting and power cuts at many places,” Prasad said.“Your defeat is certain, but why are you running away from the field,” he asked.
