NEET UG 2025 round 2: MCC adds 1,134 new MBBS, BDS seats and releases seat matrix
NEET UG 2025 round 2: The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has released the seat matrix for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) UG 2025 round 2 counselling. As per the updated seat matrix, 1,134 newly added seats are available for candidates in this phase of counselling.Along with the new seats, 7,088 virtual vacancy seats and 13,501 clear vacancy seats have been included in the counselling process. These seats are offered across MBBS, BDS, and BSc Nursing courses under the 15% All India Quota (AIQ).Newly added, virtual, and clear vacancy seats explainedIn NEET UG 2025 round 2, the 1,134 newly added seats comprise Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) and Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) seats from various medical institutions.
These seats have been introduced after the completion of round 1.Virtual vacancy seats are those that appear vacant after round 1 but are subject to the upgradation of previously allotted seats. These seats may change depending on candidates' preferences and movements during the second round. On the other hand, clear vacancy seats are confirmed unoccupied seats after round 1 and are available for immediate allotment in round 2.

The seat allotment process will take place between September 10 and 11, and the provisional results will be declared on September 12. Candidates who are allotted seats must report to their respective institutions between September 13 and 19.Institutes participating under AIQA total of 775 medical colleges are participating in NEET UG 2025 counselling under the 15% AIQ. This includes over 400 government medical colleges, 32 private colleges, 13 government (society) colleges, 44 society-run institutions, and more than 250 trust-run colleges.Candidates and seat distribution in round 1In round 1 of NEET UG 2025 counselling, 12.36 lakh candidates qualified and competed for 1,15,900 MBBS seats available across government, private, and other medical colleges in India.The round 2 counselling will allow eligible candidates another opportunity to secure admission to MBBS, BDS, and BSc Nursing programmes, based on the availability of newly added and vacant seats across participating institutions.
