A social media post by Thiruvambady MLA Linto Joseph congratulating his wife K. Anusha on joining the Kerala Police has drawn wide appreciation from netizens with many of her friends and classmates sharing their direct experience about her hard work and determination to secure the dream profession. The post, shared after Anusha’s passing-out parade, captured one of the personal and notable moments in their lives which they fulfilled through mutual encouragement.

A post-graduate in Mathematics, Anusha joined the Kerala Armed Police Women’s Battalion after completing months of training. Many found it as the first instance of a legislator’s wife in Kerala becoming a part of the State police force. Mr. Joseph shared the photograph along with the description, “My Anu thus became a part of the police force,” expressing pride in her achievement.

“Actually, this was one of the three short-listed job vacancies for her. She was already there in the list of Excise and last grade Servants. Whatever be her choice, we will stand by it,” says Mr. Joseph while sharing his happiness over his wife’s new role. Her entry to the service also sends a clear message that people’s representatives also are in need of breadwinners for the family to survive, he adds.

Many social media users lauded the couple, describing the event as a reminder of dedication and perseverance at a time when public discussions often focus only on allegations related to backdoor appointments. Minister for Public Works and Tourism P.A. Mohamed Riyas and several other prominent personalities congratulated Anusha for her effort in securing the job through competitive training. They also appreciated Mr. Joseph for motivating and supporting her throughout the process.

The couple’s association dates back to their student years. Linto was then serving as the district secretary of Student Federation of India (SFI), while Anusha was its area secretary and pursuing her MSc in mathematics. Their friendship, built on shared ideals, eventually was growing into a partnership that also overcame social and religious differences. They got married in 2021, during the period of COVID-19 restrictions.

Mr. Joseph first came into prominence for his rescue and relief efforts during the Kerala floods. While helping a cancer patient from a tribal colony to board an ambulance, he had sustained an injury that had crippled the mobility of his right leg. Despite the injury, he continued his public and political work which later prompted the Left Democratic Front to pick him as its candidate for Thiruvambady.
