BJP State president B.Y. Vijayendra has stated that the Central leadership would soon announce the names of new presidents for various States, including Karnataka.

Speaking to presspersons in Bengaluru on Thursday, Mr. Vijayendra denied speculations that it had not become possible to finalise the president for the Karnataka unit owing to internal tussle and that the Central leadership had put off the process. “Very soon, the president’s name would be announced,” he claimed.

Pointing out that announcements had already been made in 14 States, Mr. Vijayendra said the appointment of presidents for another six to seven States, including Karnataka, would be finalised very soon. The national president of the party would be named after this process is completed, he added.

Hinting that he was confident of getting another term at the top post, Mr. Vijayendra said: “I have worked effectively in building the party organisation in the last one-and-a-half years. Our party workers and leaders too feel the same.”

He did not agree with veteran leader D.V. Sadananda Gowda’s remarks that the condition of the BJP State unit was like the proverbial “embers covered under ashes.” He said it is natural to have minor differences and he would meet Mr. Gowda to discuss his statement on Friday.
