Parliament is set to elect a new Vice President on Tuesday, with voting scheduled between 10 am and 5 pm in the Parliament House. The election comes after Jagdeep Dhankhar resigned in July 2025 citing health reasons, leaving the post vacant.
The election follows the Single Transferable Vote system among members of both the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha. To ensure transparency, the Election Commission, Rajya Sabha Secretariat, and every Parliamentary Secretary are involved in overseeing the process.

The Vice President holds the second highest constitutional post after the President and serves as the Chairman of the Rajya Sabha.
