New York City gets a snowy showstopper

New Yorkers strolling through Central Park this week stumbled upon an unexpected fashion moment — sculpted entirely from snow. Upper West Side wedding dress designer Colette Komm went viral after crafting an eerily lifelike dress form, dubbed 'Snowmannequin,' which stands at the south side of Terrace Drive, just west of Bethesda Fountain, through the West 72nd St.

Komm instead gathered chunks by hand, compressing them into a mound — even hugging the growing pile to bind it together — before shaping the torso and sweeping gown.The following morning, she returned to refine the hem near Bethesda Fountain, only to discover someone had added a snowball “head” to the neck. She promptly removed it. “This is a dress form — it doesn’t have a head,” she explained.Visual treat in the winter airAs word spread, curious visitors flocked to see the sculpture in person. Some had trekked across the park searching for it, while others arrived after spotting it on different social platforms. “One woman came up to me and she’s like, ‘Oh my gosh, I’ve been wandering around in the park since 96th Street trying to find this,'” she recalled. Komm even livestreamed her finishing touches, drawing 8 million real-time viewers.

“I had like a cheering section. There were people applauding. It was great,” Komm told The Post. Online reactions were equally enthusiastic, with admirers calling the piece museum-worthy and praising the burst of creativity.
