Uttarkashi Flash Flood Updates: At Least 4 Dead; PM Modi Dials CM Dhami

At least four people have died and several others are feared trapped after a flash flood, triggered by a cloudburst over the Khir Ganga river, hit Dharali village in Uttarkashi district on Tuesday.

Dharali, a key stopover on the route to Gangotri and home to several hotels, restaurants, and homestays, was severely affected as floodwaters carrying heavy silt and debris swept through the area. Multiple structures were damaged or submerged. READ MORE

Trump Says US Does ‘Little Business’ With India As He Warns To Raise Tariffs In 24 Hours

US President Donald Trump warned of a sharp escalation in trade tensions with India, saying he plans to “very substantially" raise tariffs within 24 hours in response to New Delhi’s continued purchase of Russian oil.

Talking to CNBC, Donald Trump said, “They have the highest tariff of anybody. We settled on 25%, but I think I’m going to raise that very substantially over the next 24 hours because they’re buying Russian oil. They’re fueling the war machine. We do little business with India. When US Sent Warships Against India: 1971 Flashback After Army Posts On Pakistan Arms Shipments

On Tuesday, the Indian Army’s Eastern Command posted a newspaper clipping on X from the days leading up to the 1971 Indo-Pak war. The caption blared in block letters: “US ARMS WORTH $2 BILLION SHIPPED TO PAKISTAN SINCE ’54."

The timing of the post was unmistakable. Just a day earlier, US President Donald Trump accused India of helping fund Russia’s war in Ukraine by buying discounted crude oil and selling it for profit. After already imposing a 25 per cent tariff on Indian goods, Trump threatened a further “substantial hike". India hit back, calling the allegations “unjustified and unreasonable." READ MORE

‘Have Right To Choose Trading Partners’: Kremlin On India’s Russian Oil Purchase

Russia on Tuesday said sovereign nations have the right to choose their trading partners, while accusing the United States of exerting illegal trade pressure on India.

Kremlin came down heavily on the Trump administration for threatening to raise tariffs on India over its purchase of Russian oil. “Sovereign nations have RIGHT TO CHOOSE their own trading partners," Kremlin said. READ MORE

Former England captain Nasser Hussain has revealed that Ben Stokes’ team has a nickname for Indian pacer Mohammed Siraj — Mr. Angry — because of his fiery nature on the field.
