NFL legend Thomas Davis dragged into Charlotte court fight as ex wife Kelly Davis accused of sexual jealousy attack

Kelly Davis, the estranged wife of former NFL star Thomas Davis, was arrested in early September 2025. She is charged with assaulting a woman she thought was romantically linked with Thomas.

At a chiropractor's office in Charlotte, North Carolina on August 26 the event transpired. Taken into custody on September 3 following an August 29 warrant, she currently has a misdemeanor assault and battery charge. Her attorney claims the claims are unsubstantiated.

Kelly Davis arrested after alleged assault on August 26 in Charlotte

Kelly Davis allegedly showed up at chiropractor Laura Watterson’s office in Charlotte on August 26, 2025. She’s said to have accused Watterson of being involved with her husband, Thomas Davis.

According to court filings, Kelly first shouted at Watterson while she treated a patient. When Laura Watterson told her to leave, Kelly Davis allegedly punched her in the chest. As Watterson tried to guide her out, Kelly reportedly knocked off her glasses and struck her again on the head.

A warrant for Kelly Davis’ arrest was issued on August 29, and she was taken into custody on September 3. She faces one count of misdemeanor assault and battery.

Kelly’s attorney, James J. Exum, called the accusations “false” and said they will be challenged in court.

Thomas Davis and Kelly Davis marriage, split, and family background

Kelly Davis married Thomas Davis back in March 2008. They separated in March 2024. In a civil filing in February 2025, Kelly alleged Thomas had “engaged in illicit sexual conduct with at least six women other than” her during their marriage. Thomas Davis played 15 seasons in the NFL in career The first round pick in 2005, he spent 13 years as a member of the Carolina Panthers and made three Pro Bowls while piling up over 1,000 tackles.

He later played with the Chargers and Commanders before retiring in 2021.The couple has two children, including their son Thomas Davis Jr., 17, who is a four-star linebacker and has committed to play football at Notre Dame.No one from Thomas Davis’s camp or from Laura Watterson responded to requests for comment.
