Which teams are interested in Kyle Pitts?

In the last few weeks, while a number of rival teams have been linked to him, as per NFL insiders, the Baltimore Ravens and the Kansas City Chiefs seemed to be interested in Kyle Pitts.

What are insiders saying about the trade rumors?

A few days ago, ESPN’s Dan Graziano noted in a recent report, “The Falcons, particularly with a new coaching staff and front office, might want to see how he fits in their new offense before committing long term. If they don't get him extended by July 15, and that rankles him and/or they struggle early in the season, teams will come asking about the availability of the uber-talented former top-10 pick, who doesn't turn 26 until October.

Baltimore lost a pair of tight ends -- Isaiah Likely and Charlie Kolar -- in free agency and could be looking for the kind of offense Pitts can generate.”In another report by Bleacher Report’s Moe Moton, he noted, "The Chiefs could pair Kelce with Pitts, who would take the franchise tight-end baton from the future Hall of Famer…In this scenario, Kelce would likely see a reduced role, which would preserve him for the season.

Early in the previous campaign, head coach Andy Reid discussed managing Kelce's snap count. With Pitts, he can do that and still get production out of the position in his offense.

Contract details and salary cap implications

For the Atlanta Falcons, trading Kyle Pitts would instantly clear off $15.045 million from the team’s books. The Atlanta Falcons will also have $0 in dead cap because his franchise tag contract contains no pro-rated signing bonus.

How could the trade impact the teams?

For the Baltimore Ravens, trading for Kyle Pitts might be a bit too expensive for the team since it would require some changes in the roster but he could have a strong bond with Mark Andrews. For the Kansas City Chiefs, trading for Kyle Pitts is relatively cheaper as he could be a future replacement for the team’s popular tight end, Travis Kelce.
