Christian McCaffrey and Micah Parsons may not play in Week 1 of the NFL season. McCaffrey, the 49ers’ star running back, did not practice on Friday and is officially questionable for Sunday’s game in Seattle because of a calf injury.

He told reporters he feels “great” and plans to play despite the worry from others. On the other side, Micah Parsons, now with the Green Bay Packers, is also questionable for the opener due to a back sprain. Both players are big names, and fans are watching closely to see if they will take the field.

Christian McCaffrey’s calf injury

Christian McCaffrey hurt his calf during practice on Thursday and did not join Friday’s session. His coach, Kyle Shanahan, called his status “questionable concern,” and McCaffrey himself said it’s mostly because of his injury history not because the problem is serious.

He told reporters, “I feel great and plan to play”. Last year, he missed many games with Achilles and knee injuries, so this time, fans and analysts are cautious. The 49ers added running back Brian Robinson Jr. recently, in case McCaffrey can’t go.

Micah Parsons faces back issues

Micah Parsons joined the Green Bay Packers after being traded by the Dallas Cowboys and is dealing with an L4/L5 back sprain. He missed training camp but has been practicing in a limited way. He said he is physically well and wants to play. One insider even said, “I would be shocked if Micah Parsons doesn’t play” in Week 1. Still, his back injury is being watched closely, and he may need a shot to help with pain relief. Packers head coach Matt LaFleur and the whole team are watching his status all week.
