Nikita Roy's director Kussh S Sinha talks about the Sonakshi Sinha Vs Kajol's clash at the box office

The horror genre is heating up the box office this week, with two major releases vying for audience’s attention. Making his directorial debut, Kussh S Sinha steps into the spotlight with Nikita Roy, a supernatural thriller starring his sister, Sonakshi Sinha. The film is set to clash with Maa, a mythological horror drama helmed by Chhorii director Vishal Furia and headlined by Kajol.

Both films are slated for release on June 27.Talking about the clash on the big screen, Kussh says, “This has always happened. There are only a limited number of weeks in a year. Any filmmaker would like a clear window for their release. Vishal Furia, the director of Maa, is also very talented, and supernatural is a genre audiences enjoy watching on the big screen — especially in the dark. If we want people to return to cinemas, we have to give them stories that intrigue them.

So, the more the merrier.”Reflecting on his journey to the director’s chair, Kussh shares, “I think it takes time. As they say in the industry, every film has its own time. It takes a while to find people who believe in you and understand the value of your story. Many directors take close to a decade to make their first feature. We knew we had a good story, and my aim is to move people emotionally.”
