UDHAGAMANDALAM: As many as 146 camps would be held in the Nilgiris under the 'Ungaludan Stalin’ initiative, district collector Lakshmi Bhavya Tanneeru said on Monday. The camps, which will start on Tuesday, will be held in three phases till Oct 14.
The Nilgiris consists of five municipalities, ten town panchayats and thirty-five panchayats. "We will conduct 65 camps across all individual wards in urban areas, while 81 camps will be held in rural areas throughout the three phases," Lakshmi stated. The schedule for the phases is as follows: the first phase will run from July 15 to Aug 14, the second phase from Aug 16 to Sept 14 and the third phase from Sept 15 to Oct 14. According to Lakshmi, around 9,000 application forms have been distributed to households so far. Completed applications can be submitted to the relevant officials during the camps. The initiative will provide 45 services, including new electricity connections, water connections, name changes and Aadhaar name changes. "Fifteen departments will be involved in rural areas, whereas thirteen departments will operate in urban areas, delivering services as part of this initiative. Services will be provided to individuals within 45 days," the collector said. Lakshmi encouraged the public to take advantage of this opportunity to access the available services.
