NIMHANS has expanded its public mental health outreach initiative, ManoSandesh, by launching a Kannada version of the video series aimed at improving access to reliable mental health information.

Conceived as a platform to deliver credible, evidence-based guidance directly from subject experts, ManoSandesh features faculty members addressing a wide range of concerns, including depression, anxiety disorders, eating disorders, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), autism spectrum disorder, and the Government of India’s Tele MANAS initiative.

The series was originally launched in English on August 15, 2025, during the 79th Independence Day celebrations at the institute by Pratima Murthy, director, NIMHANS. Since then, 37 videos in English and Hindi have been uploaded on the official NIMHANS YouTube channel and have received encouraging public response.

The Kannada edition was formally released on Tuesday at the National Science Day Exhibition held at the NIMHANS Convention Centre. The launch was presided over by Usha Vijayaraghavan, Dean, Biological Sciences Division, Indian Institute of Science, in the presence of Dr. Murthy and other faculty members.

Institute officials said the move is part of a broader effort to strengthen mental health literacy across Karnataka by making expert-backed information available in regional languages. They noted that language accessibility plays a key role in reducing stigma and encouraging early help-seeking.

The Kannada videos are now available on the official NIMHANS YouTube channel under the ManoSandesh playlist.
