IIM Ahmedabad ranks first in NIRF management rankings 2025.
The Ministry of Education has released the NIRF 2025 rankings for management institutes, and once again IIM Ahmedabad has taken the number one spot. This is the sixth year in a row that the institute has been named the best management school in India.
The National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) judges colleges on factors like teaching quality, research, placements, inclusivity, and reputation. IIM Bangalore and IIM Kozhikode have secured the second and third places. While IIMs continue to dominate, a few non-IIMs like IIT Delhi’s Department of Management Studies (DMS), MDI Gurgaon, and XLRI Jamshedpur have also made it to the top 10 list, showing that India has a wide range of good management schools.

IIMs dominate the rankings
The top 10 list is still largely dominated by IIMs, with seven IIMs making the cut. Institutes like IIM Kozhikode and IIM Indore have shown rapid growth, while IIM Calcutta and IIM Lucknow continue to hold their strong positions.IIM Ahmedabad has consistently scored high on all NIRF parameters including teaching quality, global exposure, and placement outcomes.
Its case-study approach, international tie-ups, and alumni network continue to set it apart.
Non-IIMs shine in the top 10
This year, IIT Delhi (DMS) has emerged as the best non-IIM option, ranking 4th overall. Private B-schools like MDI Gurgaon and XLRI Jamshedpur also continue to secure their place among the best, proving that non-IIM institutes are also making their mark in management education.For MBA aspirants, the rankings offer a clear picture of where the top opportunities lie. With IIMs leading the way and other institutes also gaining recognition, students now have more diverse choices when planning their management careers.
