Cementing its position as a premier educational institution in the country, the National Institute of Technology Calicut (NITC) has achieved outstanding results in the Ministry of Education’s National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) 2025, making a significant jump in the Architecture and Planning category and a strong performance in the Engineering discipline.
NITC’s Department of Architecture and Planning has secured the second position nationally, a remarkable leap from its third rank in the previous year. This improved ranking reflects the department’s commitment to academic rigour, innovative design pedagogy, and quality research, a press release said.
In the highly competitive engineering category, NITC has maintained its position among the country’s elite institutions, earning the 21st rank. This ranking places NITC among the topmost NITs in India, a testament to its robust academic framework, research output, and comprehensive student development programmes.
Expressing immense pride in the institute’s achievements, Prof. Prasad Krishna, Director, NITC, said, “These rankings are a direct reflection of the tireless dedication and collaborative spirit of our entire community—our brilliant students, committed faculty, non-teaching staff, and supportive alumni. Our rise in the Architecture and Planning ranking and consistent excellence in Engineering underscore our unwavering focus on fostering an environment that encourages creativity, critical thinking, and groundbreaking research. This recognition inspires us to continue pushing the boundaries of innovation and contribute meaningfully to the nation’s progress through quality education.”
The NIRF rankings, which are based on a rigorous evaluation of higher education institutions on parameters such as teaching, learning, resources, research and professional practice, graduation outcomes, and outreach and inclusivity, serve as a key benchmark for academic excellence. With these achievements, NITC strengthens its reputation as a hub of academic and research distinction, dedicated to shaping the future leaders and innovators of India.
The prestigious awards were formally received by Dr. A.V. Babu, Dean (Academic), from the Union Minister of Education, Dharmendra Pradhan, during the official award ceremony held in New Delhi.
