Nitish flags off mobile science bus

Patna: CM Nitish Kumar on Saturday inaugurated the mobile science exhibition bus service, flagging it off at an event held at the planetarium in Patna. The bus will travel across Bihar to provide students with scientific knowledge.He also unveiled plaques for various schemes of the department of science, technology and technical education, including the start of construction work for an Astra Park and the inauguration of a souvenir sales centre at the planetarium. In addition, under the joint auspices of the Bihar Council on Science and Technology and Bihar Engineering University (BEU), an MTech (geoinformatics) course was launched at the Bihar Remote Sensing Application Centre, Patna.At the same event, a memorandum of understanding was signed between the Bihar Council on Science and Technology and the National Science Museum Complex for the construction of an observatory dome with a telescope at the Patna planetarium. An internship portal was also launched at the venue.Nitish further inaugurated a virtual reality theatre built in the main building of the planetarium at a cost of Rs 5 crore. After the launch, he inspected the facility by sitting through a demonstration.

“The theatre is well-made, and students and visitors will gain new knowledge along with science,” the CM remarked.He later handed over degrees to engineering graduates of BEU and honoured toppers. Suman Kumar, a mechanical engineering student from Motihari College of Engineering, who secured the highest position overall in the university, received a cheque of Rs 50,001, a gold medal, a laptop, a certificate of appreciation and his B.Tech degree.Others honoured included Vaishnavi Priya (civil engineering, BCE Bhagalpur), Saloni Kumari (electrical engineering, GEC Nawada), Ritik Raj (electronics and communication engineering, BCE Bhagalpur), Pramit Kumar (computer science and engineering, BCE Bhagalpur), and Rani Kumari (information technology, MIT Muzaffarpur). Each received a laptop, a gold medal, a certificate of appreciation and a BTech degree.
