Pep Guardiola may rest Erling Haaland for Manchester City's League Cup clash with Swansea City, while Rodri remains sidelined.

Man City's Erling Haaland taking a knock (X)
Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has hinted that Erling Haaland could be rested for Wednesday’s League Cup fourth-round clash against Swansea City, while midfielder Rodri remains unavailable as he continues his recovery from injury.
Haaland, who failed to score for the first time in 13 games during City’s 1–0 loss to Aston Villa on Sunday, collided with the post late in the match.
It came as a major point of concern, given that Haaland has single-handedly been almost the only source of goals upfront for City so far — having netted 11 out of the 16 total PL goals that the club has scored.
Guardiola confirmed the Norwegian’s knock is improving but said a late decision will be made on his involvement.
“Erling, I haven’t seen him today but it was a knock and day-by-day it is better," Guardiola said on Tuesday. “We’ll train this afternoon and decide if he can play. Yeah, this is a game where we could rest Erling."
Rodri, meanwhile, remains out with a hamstring issue that has hampered his return since a major knee injury over a year ago.
“Rodri is getting better, training with us," Guardiola added. “I don’t have an idea when he will be available. Hopefully soon, but not yet."
City, four-time League Cup winners under Guardiola, are heavy favourites against Championship side Swansea, who sit 13th in the table.
But, given City’s shaky start to the season, and their hyper-dependence on Haaland, one can expect them to slog it out to come away with a win.
