The England international was originally convicted in 2020 and given a suspended sentence of 21 months and 10 days after being found guilty of repeated bodily harm, attempted bribery and violence against public employees.

He denied the charges and immediately appealed — a move that, under Greek law, automatically nullified the original conviction and triggered a full retrial.

Fast forward through four postponements, procedural delays, and endless paperwork, and the retrial has now wrapped up in Syros.

This time? Guilty of non-serious assault, resisting arrest and attempted bribery — but with a reduced 15-month suspended sentence.
