Former Formula 1 driver Nicholas Latifi has resurfaced with a surprising update — he’s officially graduated from the London Business School (LBS) with an MBA, marking a new chapter in his post-racing career.

The 30-year-old Canadian stepped away from motorsport at the end of 2022 after three seasons with Williams Racing. Following his F1 exit, Latifi took a step back from the spotlight, spending time away from social media and racing to focus on academics.

“It’s been a while since I last posted," Latifi wrote on social media. “I wanted to take some time away to fully focus on my MBA at London Business School and really enjoy the experience free of distractions. I’m happy to share that I graduated a few months ago!"

For someone who never completed an undergraduate degree, Latifi admitted that the decision came with nerves:

“Having not done an undergrad degree, I had no idea what to expect, and will admit I was a little nervous at first," he said. “But I quickly discovered how warm and welcoming the LBS community is and built friendships I know will last a lifetime."

From the Track to the Classroom

Latifi’s new milestone marks a major shift from his time in Formula 1, where he competed from 2020 to 2022.

During his stint with Williams, he scored nine career points, with standout results including seventh at the 2021 Hungarian Grand Prix, ninth at Spa in 2021, and ninth again in Japan in 2022.

However, he remains best known for his role in one of F1’s most controversial moments — the 2021 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

His late-race crash brought out a safety car that dramatically altered the outcome of the world championship, with Max Verstappen overtaking Lewis Hamilton on the final lap to claim the title.

Though the incident was purely a racing accident, Latifi became the unintended catalyst for one of F1’s most-debated conclusions and even faced online abuse afterward.

Williams chose not to renew his contract after the 2022 season, leaving Latifi without a seat and prompting his decision to pivot away from professional racing.

A Fresh Start

Now, with an MBA from one of the most prestigious institutions in the world, Latifi appears ready for a new career path — one that may take him far from the roar of the paddock. His message to fans hinted that more announcements are on the way:

“Excited for what is ahead. More to come soon."
