No news on CBSE’s compartment exam, Karnataka students anxious

Bengaluru: While the chaos around CBSE’s revaluation results continues, there is yet another group that is affected by the mess — the students placed under compartment.CBSE has yet not opened the portal for students under compartment, who have failed to pass the exam, to apply.

The process is that students have to apply for the compartment exam through the school, which will in turn have to upload the names and apply.

However, schools have received no intimation regarding this.“We have four students in compartment. The parents and students are getting anxious as the days go by. They now even fear that a second exam might not happen. What do we tell them? We have no information about it,” said a school principal.“This time, the number of students who are in compartment is more as the pass percentage has dropped. These students have been inquiring about the compartment exam. Usually, such students at least have a chance of getting in the second cycle of admissions if they clear the papers. But, with the delay in the papers, even that seems distant,” said another principal.Sandeep M Pai, chairman of Bengaluru Sahodaya, said: “Many students are hoping to clear the exam by July and move on to the next phase.

It would have been ideal if CBSE could at least give an update on when they can expect the next steps.”“There is also no news of the second exam of class 10 and the revaluation marks of class 12. CBSE is losing its credibility. We had parents’ orientation recently, and they were questioning us about the recent issues,” said another principal.A CBSE official said they’ll share an update soon, and students should check website for updates.Students placed in compartment are those who failed to get the pass mark or those who were absent for exams. In the Bengaluru region, there are 1,025 students placed in compartment. The highest number of students in compartment is in the Prayagraj region (20,841), followed by Noida (15,043), Patna (13,368), Dehradun (12,191) and Lucknow (10,339). In all, there are over 1.6 lakh students in compartment, as per a press release by CBSE.
