The Union Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas issued a notification on Saturday, saying that households having both a Piped Natural Gas (PNG) connection and a domestic Liquified Petroleum Gas (LPG) subscription shall surrender the latter and also refrain from getting cylinder refills from any public oil company or through its distributors.
The notification, issued amid the disruption in global fuel supply due to the ongoing crisis in the Middle East, came as an amendment to the Liquefied Petroleum Gas (Regulation of Supply and Distribution) Order. The amended order also prohibits PNG users from obtaining a fresh domestic LPG connection.
"No person having a Piped Natural Gas connection and also having domestic LPG connection shall retain a domestic LPG connection, or take refills of domestic LPG cylinders from any Government oil company, or through their distributors. Such persons will be required to immediately surrender their domestic LPG connection," it states.
