Seattle Sounders stunned Lionel Messi and Inter Miami 3-0 at Lumen Field, clinching the Leagues Cup and becoming the first MLS team to win every North American Trophy.

The Seattle Sounders shocked Lionel Messi and Inter Miami with a commanding 3-0 victory on Sunday night to lift the Leagues Cup.

The triumph came in front of a record-breaking 69,314-strong crowd at Lumen Field, where Messi’s Miami crumbled all throguhout.

De Rosario Breaks Through

Inter Miami, featuring Messi alongside former Barcelona teammates Luis Suárez and Jordi Alba, struggled to find rhythm against Seattle’s compact defensive shape.

Seattle, on the other hand, kept pressing from the get-go and their breakthrough came in the 26th minute when Osaze De Rosario capitalized on a defensive lapse to put Seattle ahead.

Seattle tightened their grip on the contest early in the second half, as a clumsy Miami challenge inside the box gave Alex Roldan the chance to double the lead from the penalty spot.

The victory was put beyond doubt when Paul Rothrock struck late to make it 3-0, sparking wild celebrations across the stadium.

Sounders Complete Their Trophy Collection

The Sounders, already boasting MLS Cup titles, U.S. Open Cup triumphs, and a 2022 CONCACAF Champions League crown, have now added the Leagues Cup to their résumé, to become the first Major League Soccer team to win every North American Trophy on offer.

The win also earned Seattle direct entry to the round of 16 in the 2026 CONCACAF Champions Cup, that will decide one 2029 FIFA Club World Cup berth.
