No urea crisis in Kovur, says TDP legislator

Prashanti Reddy explained that paddy cultivation spans 55,000 acres across the Kovur constituency

Tirupati: TDP legislator Vemireddy Prashanti Reddy has squarely dismissed reports of a urea crisis affecting the farmers at the Kovur assembly constituency in Nellore district and warned opposition parties to refrain from misleading the farming community over the issue.Addressing a press conference at Nellore on Saturday, Prashanti Reddy explained that paddy cultivation spans 55,000 acres across the Kovur constituency. While transplantation has already been completed in 42,000 acres, the remaining 13,000 acres will see the process completed within the next ten days.“Against the total constituency requirement of 7,000 tons of urea, 4500 tons have already been distributed to farmers. Currently, 1,000 tons remain accessible at the field level, while an additional 2500 tons are safely stockpiled at the Inamadugu godowns in Kovur mandal, ready to be dispatched to local societies and dealers within hours of demand”, Kovur MLA explained.Prashanti Reddy further stated that after the initial hiccups, the govt was now supplying 3 bags of urea per acre of land as desired by the farmers.
