Gandhi Hospital Superintendent Rajkumari has denied allegations of a drinking water shortage at the state-run facility, following a notice from the Telangana Human Rights Commission (THRC) seeking a response on the matter.

Speaking to The Hindu, Dr. Rajkumari stated that there is no water crisis at the hospital and that the reports suggesting otherwise are inaccurate. “There is no such thing at all. You can see so many RO plants on our campus, and just today I inaugurated another one. We have a surplus of drinking water available at the hospital,” she said.

When asked about the hospital’s drinking water infrastructure, she said there are more than 20 RO water purification plants on the premises. The THRC had taken suo moto cognizance and issued a notice to the hospital on Monday, June 9, after a media outlet flagged concerns about the availability of drinking water for patients and staff.

Clarifying the matter, the superintendent attributed a recent disruption to a power fluctuation that occurred on the evening of June 6. “There was some power fluctuation the other day, but we immediately arranged for a generator within a very short span of time everything was functioning normally again,” she added.
