Noida Man Dies After Cab Driver Falls Asleep At The Wheel, Crashes Into Tempo

A 59-year-old man from Noida died on Saturday after a cab driver fell asleep at the wheel and rammed the vehicle into a stationary tempo, according to several reports.

The man was identified as Rakesh Arora, a resident of Garima Vihar in Noida Sector-35, who was heading to the airport to catch a flight to Bengaluru for a business meeting when the accident took place.

Arora booked an Uber and was on his way to the airport when the car rammed into a tempo near the toll plaza of the Delhi-Noida Direct (DND) flyway, according to NDTV. The family of the deceased man alleged that the driver fell asleep while driving.

Police received a distress call at around 4:15 am about a person trapped in a mangled car and found Arora and the driver, identified as Sudhir, 32, at the scene. Both persons were rushed to the AIIMS hospital, where Arora was declared dead on arrival.

Meanwhile, Sudhir is currently undergoing treatment. Doctors said he was currently unfit to give an official statement to ascertain what happened. No witnesses have been found so far, and an official police complaint was registered.

Meanwhile, Uber has not responded to comments on Rakesh Arora’s death.

In an unrelated incident, a 37-year-old man died and two others sustained injuries after a speeding DEVI bus rammed into a stationary DTC bus near the Shadipur Depot in central Delhi’s Ranjeet Nagar area, according to police on Friday.
