Noida murder mystery: Severed head, limbs of woman’s body found in Sector 82 drain; cops scan over 500 CCTVs for clues

NOIDA: Twenty-four hours after the dismembered body of a woman was recovered from a drain in Sector 82, cops are yet to identify the victim or ascertain how it reached there.On Friday, teams from Sector 82 police station widened their search and combed areas within a 3km radius of the spot where the body was first spotted by a sanitation staffer to locate the severed limbs and head.“Nearby forested areas, drains and parks were searched to trace the missing body parts. More than 500 CCTV cameras in and around the sector and connecting routes were scanned. But we are yet to pick up any lead,” additional DCP Sumit Shukla said.

Cops have asked their counterparts in Delhi, Ghaziabad and Haryana to share lists of women, aged 30-40 years, who were reported missing over the past week. Investigators are also scanning social media platforms to pick up information.While the autopsy report is still pending, police believe the woman may have been killed roughly 24 hours before her body was found around 11am on Thursday. They are analysing CCTV footage and toll data for about 550 four-wheelers that passed through the service road off the Noida Expressway since Monday.Forensic analysis has indicated the woman was murdered elsewhere, but her body was thrown into the Noida drain to derail the investigation. Her head and palms were severed, and clothes removed to prevent identification. Officers said multiple injury marks were visible on the torso, suggesting a brutal assault before death.
