Amidst the demand for banning activities of RSS on premises of government properties, BJP State president B.Y. Vijayendra on Wednesday maintained that it was impossible to ban the RSS.
Speaking to mediapersons in Chitradurga, Mr. Vijayendra asserted, “The Congress government at the Centre had once banned the RSS, but had to finally withdraw, though the BJP did not have a strong presence in the country. Now the BJP not only has a strong presence in the country, but also has a strong leadership in Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Apart from the Centre, the BJP is also in power in several States. That being the case, talking about banning RSS is height of foolishness,” he said.
He accused the Congress government of trying to divert public attention from its alleged failures on all fronts by making demands such as banning RSS.
Launching a tirade against RDPR and IT/BT Minister Priyank Kharge, who has alleged that he has been getting threat calls after he demanded a ban on RSS activities on the premises of government properties, he said Mr. Kharge was trying to “get publicity out it.”
