Nutritious food must for students to grow and compete, says Bhatti

Hyderabad: Deputy chief minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka on Monday celebrated his 65th birthday with the students of Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya in Moinabad of Ranga Reddy district, followed by celebrations at Praja Bhavan at Green Lands in the city.Bhatti, along with BC welfare minister Ponnam Prabhakar shared lunch with the students and interacted with them and took feedback about the quality of the food being served.Addressing the gathering, Bhatti said, “Today’s students are tomorrow’s human resources and the wealth of the state. The govt will spend whatever is necessary for their education and health. Only when students receive nutritious food can they grow physically and mentally and compete successfully in today’s world,” Bhatti said.He criticised the previous BRS govt’s failure to increase diet charges. “The Congress govt increased diet charges by 40% and cosmetic charges by 200%. If estimates for additional classrooms at the Moinabad Kasturba Gandhi Residential School are submitted, I will discuss it with the chief minister and ensure funds are sanctioned,” he said.Bhatti said KGBVs were introduced by earlier Congress govts to support girls from economically weaker backgrounds and that these schools had significantly reduced dropout rates among girls and were producing excellent results.

The deputy CM also celebrated his birthday at Praja Bhavan where ministers, party leaders and cadres wished him. Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla wished over the phone. In his message on X, CM Revanth wished him a long and healthy life and called for continued joint efforts to improve public service delivery in Telangana. Andhra Pradesh former CM YS Jagan Mohan Reddy also extended birthday greetings.Birthday greetings poured in for Bhatti from various quarters, with ministers N Uttam Kumar Reddy, D Sridhar Babu, Tummala Nageswara Rao, Ponnam Prabhakar, D Anasuya Seethakka among others wishing him in person.
