K.V. Stanley, co-founder of Odanadi Seva Samsthe, Mysuru, has lodged an FIR against Vasant Giliyar, a resident of Udupi district, for allegedly defaming him and provoking a section of the society against him.

According to the FIR registered at the Vijayangar Police Station here, Stanley said that he has been working against the exploitation of women and children as one of the founders and directors of Odanadi Seva Samthse in Mysuru for the last 35 years and was engaged in campaigns to secure justice for Sowjanya, the girl from Dharmasthala, who had been abducted, raped, and murdered.

However, according to the complaint, Giliyar identified him as a Christian and blamed him for coming to destroy Hinduism and temples on various social media platforms, news channels, and public programmes.

By allegedly inciting religious sentiments against him, Stanley said that the accused was indulging in his character assassination, and endangering the lives of those sheltered at the Odanadi Seva Samsthe. Hence, he has urged the police to take suitable legal action against the accused.

The police have lodged an FIR against Giliyar under Section 196 (1)(a) and 353(2) of the BNS.
