Odisha govt to simplify land management with new law

Revenue minister Suresh Pujari

Puri: The state govt will soon introduce a comprehensive Odisha Land Management Act to streamline all land-related processes across the state, announced revenue minister Suresh Pujari during a review meeting at Puri Circuit House on Thursday.

The new law will replace multiple outdated revenue laws, making it easier for citizens to handle land records and mutations through their local tehsildars.“The existing land laws have many outdated and complicated provisions that cause delays and bureaucratic hurdles,” Pujari said. Along with the new act, the govt will also amend the Odisha Survey and Settlement Act, giving tehsildars more decision-making power.

Addressing Puri’s unique land challenges, Pujari noted that different portions of land are managed by various departments, including the Urban Development Authority, RERA and the Endowment Department. The Puri collector must submit a detailed report on land issues by Dec end for the govt to make necessary amendments. After examining the report, the govt will make necessary amendments to relevant laws to resolve land disputes permanently.
