Odisha worker killed, four injured as rice-laden vehicle overturns near Nandendla in Palnadu

A man died and four others were injured when a lorry carrying ration rice overturned after a tyre burst near Nandendla–Thimmapuram road around in Nadendla mandal, Palnadu district, in the intervening midnight of Sunday and Monday. The ration rice was allegedly being transported illegally.

According to police, the vehicle was transporting ration rice from Sathuluru when one of its rear tyres burst, causing the vehicle to lose control and overturn. Several rice sacks fell on the workers traveling in the vehicle.

Bapun Malik (25), son of Kalind Malik from Nandapur village, Bhadrak district of Odisha, died on the spot. Four others sustained injuries, among whom Prabhat Malik (30), was reported to be in a critical condition and was shifted to the Guntur Government General Hospital. The remaining injured were admitted to a local hospital.

The deceased man’s body was moved to the Chilakaluripet Area Hospital mortuary for post-mortem examination.
