Official held for withholding NTR Bharosa pensions

A panchayat secretary in Punganur mandal of Chittoor district was on Monday (September 1, 2025) taken into custody for allegedly diverting NTR Bharosa pension funds meant for beneficiaries. According to Punganur police, the accused identified as Srinivasulu of Bandlapalli panchayat resorted to misappropriation of about ₹6.30 lakh, and had reportedly tried to use it for cricket betting. The beneficiaries raised alert after they did not receive pension by noon. The revenue officials immediately launched an inquiry, which led to police intervention. The officials ensured that the beneficiaries will receive their pending pension.
