Manchester City forward Omar Marmoush touched up on the healthy competition in the squad ahead of their Premier League clash against Tottenham on Saturday as he stated that quality in the team pushes one to perform to their abilities.

City, who opened their campaign with a rampant 4-0 triumph against Wolves, take on Spurs, who also gave a good account of themselves with a 3-0 win over recently promoted Burnley.

“The competition in the squad is very important for all of us – it’s healthy," Marmoush said.

“Whoever plays we of course want the team to be successful and if you come on from the bench, you give 100% and it just pushes the level much higher in the training sessions," he added.

“We always know that someone is waiting for their place to play – it pushes you to be better. It’s healthy," the Egyptian reiterated.

Pep Guardiola and Co. look to challenge for all available silverware this season following a trophyless year last season around and have amped up their squad with multiple big name signings including Tijani Reijnders, Rayan Cherki and Rayan Ait-Nouri to name a few.

“I can’t wait – I’m very excited. It’s always nice to be at home and play in our stadium. Hopefully it will be a good game," the 26-year-old said.

“We’ve looked at their qualities and they’ve changed the team and the manager. It will be a tough game but I’m very confident if we put our qualities on the pitch, we should be very hard to beat," he continued.

“We’re just taking it game-by-game. With time, we will grow together and become stronger. We have a lot of qualities. Being at a club Man City the target is always trophies," the striker concluded.
