One Killed In Brawl Between Two Prisoners At Delhi's Saket Court

The incident took place when when two fellow inmates, Jitender and Jaidev, allegedly attacked Aman during a scuffle.

An undertrial prisoner was killed and another prisoner was injured after a brawl broke out between them inside the lock-up of Delhi’s Saket Court on Wednesday, officials said.

The deceased, identified as Aman, was brought to the court for legal proceedings. He was held inside the court’s lock-up, where several undertrial prisoners were also kept.

The incident took place when when two fellow inmates, Jitender and Jaidev, allegedly attacked Aman during a scuffle. He was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he was declared dead.

“An incident of assault took place on 5th June in Kharja No. 5 of Saket Court Lock-up. One Aman was brought to the lock-up for production before the Court. At the time of the incident, a lot of undertrial prisoners (UTPs), including the deceased Aman were present inside the said Kharja. Two UTPs Jitender and Jaidev assaulted the victim. Jitender and Aman had old animosity between them due to an incident of assault that happened in 2024 when they both were outside the jail. Aman allegedly assaulted Jitender and his brother with knife in that incident," Delhi Police said in a statement.

As per the reports, Jitender and Aman had an old animosity which originated from a 2024 incident outside the jail where Aman allegedly assaulted Jitender and his brother with a knife.

The police has initiated a probe and is questioning the two accused inmates involved in the attack.
