One more ‘kode’ (bull) died due to ‘illness’ at the goshala of Sri Raja Rajeshwara Swamy temple in Vemulawada on Wednesday, taking the toll to 26, since Friday (May 30).
It may be mentioned that nine ‘kodelu’, donated by devotees to the historic temple, died in the last two days — three on Monday and six on Tuesday. The death of 26 ‘kodelu’ within a week at the overcrowded goshala, sparked outcry among ardent devotees of the temple deity, revered as Rajanna.
Around 14 sick ‘kodelu’ are being treated by a team of veterinarians at the temple goshala and they are responding well to treatment, said District Veterinary Officer Ravinder Reddy.
As many as 26 kodelu died at the goshala, housing around 1,300 kodelu, due to unseasonal rains and health issues since Friday, he said.
He added that the team of veterinarians is closely monitoring the health condition of the ailing kodelu and providing them prompt treatment at the goshala.
