BJP Parliamentary Board member and OBC Morcha national president K. Laxman has said that simultaneous elections to the Lok Sabha and the State Assemblies (One Nation - One Election) is a certainty, and that the party will register unimaginable victories in the South.

Addressing the media here on Thursday, Mr. Laxman said the BJP was making inroads into States that were hitherto strongholds of the regional parties, and the results would be seen sooner than later.

He attributed the successes to the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, under whose stewardship India was poised to become the world’s third largest economy in the foreseeable future.

In contrast, Mr. Laxman recalled how corruption had been rampant during the Congress era, citing former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi’s admission that “only 15 paise of every rupee reached the poor.”

Through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT), the NDA Government disbursed ₹25 lakh crore without any corrupton, he claimed.

Mr. Laxman said the BJP-led NDA Government was firmly committed to the development of Andhra Pradesh and it was evident from the huge financial support being extended to the State for over a decade now. The massive funding for infrastructure works in Andhra Pradesh by the Centre was about to transform the State into a logistics hub. Railway projects in the State got ₹10,134 crore since 2024, he added.

The Hyderabad-Bengaluru and Hyderabad-Chennai high-speed rail corridors would enable the State to make rapid strides, he asserted.

Further, Mr. Laxman said more than 200 temples in Andhra Pradesh had been vandalised during the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) government’s term. Adulteration of the ghee used to make the Tirupati laddu prasadamwas another proof of the YSRCP’s attitude towards Hinduism, he observed.
