The court remanded one Kaulepalli Amjad Khan, alias Mega Amjad, of Joku Palem in Kadiri town of Dharmavaram police sub-division to judicial custody for repeatedly sharing provocative posts on social media aimed at disturbing public harmony.
Addressing a press conference here on Sunday (September 21, 2025), Superintendent of Police S. Satish Kumar said that anyone posting and sharing provocative or objectionable content on social media would be arrested and remanded.
He said as per the police records, Mr. Amjad Khan had four criminal cases registered against him between 2021 and 2025, and the charges included kidnapping, cheating, and provocative social media posts. He was produced before the court which remanded him to judicial custody, the SP added. “Though the police had repeatedly warned him to mend his ways, he kept continuing his social media activity,” the SP said.
Mr. Satish Kumar warned that those making inflammatory or obscene posts targeting women and inciting caste, religious or political hatred will be liable for criminal action as per the law.
He also said crimes against women and minor girls, including eve-teasing, harassment at public places and work stations, assault, kidnappings, and murders, would be dealt sternly. He also instructed the police to maintain close surveillance on offenders and open rowdy-sheets where necessary.
Police personnel had counselled 205 offenders, including rowdy-sheeters, across the district, he added.
