Most people watched Dhurandhar for the action, the drama and Ranveer Singh's larger-than-life screen presence. A professor at IIM Ahmedabad apparently watched it and thought, "This could explain sampling techniques."And somehow, it worked.A student from the prestigious management institute recently shared a classroom moment that has now gone viral online. Instead of opening a textbook full of intimidating statistical jargon, the professor reportedly used scenes and dialogues from Dhurandhar to explain concepts in survey design and research methodology.Yes, really. The student, Prakhar Singh, posted a video from class and revealed how references from the blockbuster film were being used to break down topics that many MBA students usually struggle to stay awake through."Dhurandhar taught me Statistics. IIM Ahmedabad," he wrote in the video. What caught people's attention wasn't just the movie reference. It was how naturally the professor connected the film's plot to academic concepts.According to the student, one dialogue from the movie was used to explain cluster sampling, while another discussion involving different groups and communities became an example of stratification.
One moment the class was talking about rival groups featured in the film. The next, they were discussing research methodology. It's the kind of academic plot twist nobody sees coming.
The clip quickly picked up traction on social media, with many viewers admitting that statistics suddenly looked far less terrifying when explained through popular culture.A lot of former MBA students seemed especially impressed.Several shared stories of professors who used films, television shows and real-world examples to make complicated subjects easier to understand. One user recalled how their professor had used the Hollywood film The Intern during an MBA course to explain organisational development concepts.Another pointed out that while such teaching methods are fairly common in American universities, they're still relatively rare in Indian classrooms.Others were simply in awe of the professor's creativity. Many joked that if statistics had been taught this way in school, they might have actually paid attention. One comment summed up the mood perfectly: "This is rad."And honestly, it's hard to disagree.Let's face it. Statistics isn't exactly a subject that gets people's hearts racing. Terms like cluster sampling, stratification and survey methodology can make eyes glaze over within seconds. But connect those same concepts to a film everyone's talking about, and suddenly the lesson feels less like a lecture and more like a conversation. That's probably why the video struck a chord online. It wasn't really about Dhurandhar. It was about that one teacher everyone remembers years later—the one who found a way to make a difficult subject click. As for Dhurandhar, the film continues to pop up in unexpected places long after its theatrical success.First it dominated social media. Then it took over movie theatres. Now it's apparently helping future business leaders understand statistics. Not a bad career progression for a Bollywood blockbuster.
