Women officers who fronted the high-profile media briefings following Operation Sindoor will address the press again on May 7, marking the anniversary of the cross-border strike, official sources said.

A former Director General of Military Operations is also scheduled to address the press conference, which will be attended by all three officers who had briefed the media in the aftermath of the operation last year.

The briefing is expected to reflect on the conduct, significance and strategic messaging of Operation Sindoor.

Operation Sindoor was carried out on May 7, 2025, when India launched a calibrated cross-border strike targeting terror camps across the Line of Control in Pakistan.

The operation was conducted in retaliation for the Pahalgam terror attack, in which 26 civilians were killed.

The post-operation media briefing had drawn wide attention as it was led by women officers from the three services.

The joint press conference was addressed by Colonel Sophia Qureshi of the Army and Wing Commander Vyomika Singh, with later official communication also highlighting the role of Commander Prerna Devasthali from the Navy.

The briefing was seen as a landmark moment, symbolising the growing leadership role of women in India’s armed forces.

It was widely viewed as a reflection of “Nari Shakti", underscoring women’s participation in top-tier operational and strategic communication during a major military action.

Operation Sindoor itself was described by officials as both a military response to terrorism and a tribute to the victims of the Pahalgam attack.

The anniversary briefing is expected to reiterate the operation’s objectives, its execution and its broader message of resolve, while also highlighting the evolving role of women officers in the country’s defence forces.
