The work to restore the pipeline was going on until late evening.

However, the supply of potable water to Tiswadi taluka, including Panaji, from the Opa facility was affected. After the staff at the plant noticed that the 750mm mild steel (MS) rising main pipeline had burst, the plant was shut and repair work was taken up.An official from the Opa plant said the pipeline was burst due to “surge”. A surge means whenever water falls with a tremendous force from height, the pipeline bursts near the joints. It can happen when water is being fetched from the river to the treatment plant and suddenly power supply gets interrupted, the official said. Such a situation occurred on Monday morning, he added.
