Margao: Cracks have surfaced within the opposition just days before the monsoon assembly session. This became evident after GFP president Vijai Sardesai and RG MLA Viresh Borkar skipped a coordination meeting convened by opposition leader, Yuri Alemao, on Tuesday.Sardesai had earlier criticised the scheduling of the meeting, arguing that such coordination should have been convened before the business advisory committee (BAC) meeting was held. “The opposition leader is merely going through the motions by calling this meeting so close to the session,” Sardesai said, reasoning that the deadline for submitting questions had nearly passed.Borkar has already declared he would “fight alone against govt in the House” rather than as part of a coordinated opposition front.Responding to Sardesai’s stance, Alemao defended the meeting’s timing and reiterated his commitment to presenting a united front.“All seven of us previously agreed to ensure this administratively-failed govt is put on the mat. I don’t have any personal agenda,” Alemao told reporters. “It’s been a tradition that all opposition MLAs meet after the BAC meeting. This is not the first time this meet has been called after the BAC meeting.”
