A fresh low-pressure area is likely to form over the Bay of Bengal on Friday (October 24, 2025), triggering another round of rain across the State.

Another well-marked low-pressure area that developed over the Bay of Bengal has now weakened into a low-pressure area, and is now over south interior Karnataka and neighbourhood on Thursday. The system is likely to move further and emerge over the east-central and adjoining southeast Arabian Sea during the next 24 hours, according to a weather bulletin issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Thursday. The system is likely to trigger isolated heavy rain to very heavy rain in northern Kerala on Friday.

An orange alert has been issued for five districts – Kasaragod, Kannur, Wayanad, Kozhikode, and Malappuram – on Friday, indicating intense spells during the next 24 hours. A yellow alert has also been issued for the remaining districts except for Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, and Kottayam.

Various models are indicating that the upcoming low-pressure area over the Bay of Bengal is likely to intensify into a well-marked system or depression in the coming days.
