As per CJ Entertainment, 19 films have been submitted to the award show for consideration under the International Feature Film category. The films feature across various genres, including fantasy, romantic comedy, and even horror. The official list of the 19 films submitted for the category is:

Korean films at the Oscars

Bong Joon Ho’s ‘

Parasite

’ was one of the first Korean films to make a major breakthrough at the Academy Awards. The film won the Best Picture award category in 2019, making it one of the first films from South Korea to win one of the most prestigious awards of the night. Not only that, it was also the first time that a non-English film had won the award in that category. Joon Ho’s film also won the award for International Feature Film, making it one of the first South Korean films to do so as well.

The next big success with the Oscars came with the film ‘

Minari

’, where it was nominated for the Best Picture Award. Not only that, Youn Yuh Jung, who was one of the major cast members on the film, ended up scoring her first Best Supporting Actress award for the night, making it another major milestone.
