Over 3.28 lakh students who underwent training under the ‘Naan Mudhalvan’ programme have been placed in prestigious institutions during the past three years, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin said in Chennai on Tuesday.

Of the 57 candidates who cleared the civil services examination conducted by the Union Public Service Commission this year, 50 were beneficiaries of the ‘Naan Mudhalvan’ programme, the Chief Minister said.

At a function organised to mark the inauguration of ‘Vetri Nichayam’ programme and the completion of three years of ‘Naan Mudhalvan’ scheme, Mr. Stalin said he was elated to listen to the candidates recall that they had benefitted from the programme.

Observing that the success of any programme depended on the success of the beneficiaries, Mr. Stalin said: “Your success is the success of ‘Naan Mudhalvan’ programme and the success of your Chief Minister.”

Listing out the achievements of his government since assuming office in 2021, Mr. Stalin said that Tamil Nadu has registered “historic” development and further pointed out that it had registered an economic growth of 9.69%.

Stating that over 41 lakh students have benefitted from the ‘Naan Mudhalvan’ programme since its inception and many have secured employment, he said, “There is no need to go to any coaching centre for an upskilling programme.”

‘Naan Mudhalvan’ programme has come into the campuses of educational institutions offering hackathons, internships, he said. Mr. Stalin further stated that the State government would distribute laptops to college students from this year. He also called upon students to excel in their studies.

Under the ‘Vetri Nichayam’ programme, those in the 18-35 age group who had dropped out of education would be identified and offered crash courses through training institutions and private companies. The State government would bear the fee expenses for their training, the CM said.

Incentives up to ₹12,000 would be offered to beneficiaries who would be drawn from different sections of the society — disabled persons, those from tribal communities, Sri Lankan Tamils, fishermen, minorities, among others. Minister P.K. Sekarbabu and senior officials were also present.
