Over 3,500 persons participated in The Hindu Made of Chennai Run held here on Sunday morning. The event featuring 5-km and 10-km-long runs was flagged off from Napier Bridge by Ma. Subramanian, Health and Family Welfare Minister.
Speaking during the flag off, the Minister said, “Chennai is a city people choose for peaceful living. The Hindu has released a book showcasing the many facets of this beautiful city. It is heartening to see Chennaiites come together to celebrate the city by participating in this run. Running and walking are the best ways to build immunity against diseases, and it is commendable that The Hindu Group has taken this initiative under Made of Chennai.”
In the 5 Km long men’s category, Gopinath. C, Dinesh. M, and Tharun Suresh secured the top three positions. In the 5 Km long women’s category, Vijayavani Velappan, Sinduja Sushrath, and Muthulakshmi Sridhar claimed first, second, and third place respectively.
In the 10 Km men’s category, the winners were Baskar. P, Monish Kumar, and Suresh Kumar, while in the 10 Km women’s category, Priyanka Pathak, Anna Mathew, and Jayashree Pitchai finished in the top three spots.
The Hindu Made of Chennai Run that ended at Island Grounds was presented by Casagrand, powered by SRM institute of Science and Technology, in association with Union Bank of India and co-hosted by Chennai Runners. The associate partners were Tata Tea Chakra Gold, Tata Coffee, Gold Winner and LIC. The activewear partner was Technosport and food partner was Nithya Amirtham. The event was conducted in partnership with Tamil Nadu Tourism Development Corporation, Greater Chennai Corporation, Greater Chennai Police, Greater Chennai Traffic Police and Namma Marina, Namma Pride. Radio Partners were Big FM, Fever FM and Radio One. Hydration Partner was Parry Foods.
